Plot
Imprisoned for his non-committal at Sing Sing, Divine G finds purpose by performing in a theater group with other incarcerated men in this story of perseverance, humanity and the transformative power of art. the actors rehearse the film in different parts of the play.
The blades were composed by Bryce Dessner
The group is criticized for not doing comedy, but their previous play was A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which is a comedy. Late Night with Seth Meyers: Anna Faris/Colman Domingo/Jose Medeles (2024).
Excellent film all round
It strikes the right note and straddles the line between gritty reality and good human potential. There is very little to improve on this movie.
Everything seen in the film is handled well
The script, the craft of filmmaking and the acting all support the story very well. The only reason I don’t rate it a 10 is that I don’t have direct experience with prisons and can’t confirm its accuracy about life there.
