Smith, who plays Lloyd, is a seasoned rodeo player
Plot
A family of Montana cattle ranchers come face to face with others who are encroaching on their land. Forrie J. John Dutton (Kevin Costner) often seems to «forget» his Montana accent and revert to the Southern Californian voice he usually uses.
Costner is a master of acting in the lead role of the Duttons
Featured on WatchMojo: 10 Best Summer TV Shows That Are Off Your Radar (2018) (Review only for the first two seasons) I came into this show not expecting to like it, but the storyline, acting, and cinematography are all excellent. It’s basically Mafia Wars in Montana with massive testosterone shots (cowboys with guns on horses fishing) interspersed! The show is at its best when it shows the moves on the chessboard that the Duttons and their enemies engage in.
Thomas Rainwater is also great
The show gets wasted early in its second season, but picks up again halfway through. Kelsey Asbille is the weakest link as Monica and plays with a weak hand, the plot is awkwardly convoluted, and the acting just doesn’t hit the mark. I think Cole Hauser may be the strongest actor (outside of Costner himself) as Rip, and I was looking forward to all of Rip’s scenes.
The plot buzzes and the scenery is beautiful
Much like Cormac McCarthy’s All The Pretty Horses was a bit more raw and brutal than its title suggests, this show strikes a similar tone. I highly recommend it and regret waiting so long to watch it. The new season of Silo is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
